Woolly Mammoth
(Mammuthus primigenius)

Mammoths once roamed the earth 10,000 years ago. A cousin to the modern elephant, mammoths preferred open grassland and used their tusks like snowplows to find tender grasses buried under the snow. No one is really sure why mammoths died out but theories have stated cold climate of the Ice Age, over hunting and disease as possible causes.
