California Poppy
(Eschscholzia californica)

E. Californica is the most planted poppy in the western United States and is California’s state flower. Native to California and Oregon, poppies close their flowers at night and during overcast days. The California poppy is drought resistant and one of the most beautiful wildflowers in North America, dotting hillsides in early summer with its bright yellow-orange petals.
